We recently had the happy opportunity to host a Sip & See for a very dear friend of ours. After a long and sometimes stressful process, Laine and her husband Jared adopted a beautiful newborn girl in December. So naturally, being the ever eager party planners that we are, we had to throw them a celebration. Since Laine did not get to have a baby shower before the adoption, we opted for a Sip & See where friends and family could gather to meet baby Pierson, sip some mimosas and celebrate with the new mommy.
Pierson’s room is decorated in gray and yellow, so in keeping with that, we decided to give the event a bumblebee theme. Our main focus was on the dessert table, decorated in gray, yellow, black and white. We got our craft on beforehand and made a “Sweet As Can Be” pennant banner to hang above the table (Oh, Cricut, how did we ever manage without you?) and some fun fabric banners made from yellow and gray honeycomb shaped swatches that we scored pre-cut at Joann.
There were an absolute heap of desserts — lemon filled chocolate whoopie pies, cupcakes, yellow chocolate dipped marshmallows and honeycomb treats and more. The adorable (and delicious) cookies came from The Signal Mountain Cookie Lady and the amazing cupcakes were from Julia’s Homestyle Bakery in the Boro. We did lemonade mimosas, which were a huge hit. Mini honey jars for all of the guests to take home served as favors.
The invitations came from Abby at the Turquoise Penguin. Aren’t they too cute?
We held a gift card raffle, giving an entry to any guest that brought in a Target or Walmart gift card. The gift cards were collected for the new parents to send back to the birth mother who gave them such an amazing blessing. The winner of the raffle got a Burt’s Bees gift set.
The Sip & See was a fantastic event with a huge turnout as so many people were excited to come and meet the gorgeous new baby girl (who I think has more hair than I do, by the way). We could not be more thrilled for Laine and Jared and cannot think of a more deserving couple to have a daughter like Pierson. We were honored to be able to share a small part of this exciting time in the life of their family.
