Back in July, we were thrilled to get to participate in The Not Wedding here in Nashville. What is a Not Wedding, you ask? Well, just one of the coolest big fake weddings ever. Definitely not your typical bridal show. The Not Wedding is a full scale event production in which local vendors come together to design, coordinate and execute a wedding ceremony and reception for a REAL live couple who is renewing their vows. The “guests” are real local couples who get to attend and see vendors in action. How cool is that? And we were pretty pumped to be a part of an event with such a cool message of building and maintaining strong marriages, inspiring local couples and promoting local businesses.
Don’t get me wrong, we enjoy doing traditional bridal shows as well, but I have to admit, then can get a little bit overwhelming brides, looking over that sea of booths and shouting over people to ask questions. At The Not Wedding, vendors participate by actually performing as they would in a normal wedding. Designers plan and execute centerpieces and table designs, caterers serve their best food, photographers capture the event and so on. Once the guests have had a chance to see, taste, smell and experience everything the vendors have to offer, they have the opportunity to speak to them in The Tunnel of Love, where we each had a small table.
Modern Vintage designed four of the guest tables for the event as well as the registration area and our Tunnel of Love space. We tried to really bring in some local flavor, using growlers from Middle TN breweries as well as the lovely TN flags made for us by Liddabits Design Shop. We loved getting to work alongside some absolutely amazing vendors and had so much fun. It was great seeing how all of the designs seemed to just fit together seamlessly even as unique and different as they all were. I had to throw in a few of Rhain and Zach as well since they were such an awesome couple, recommitting themselves to one another throughout the event.
