welcome

Hi, we're Modern Vintage. We love weddings, we love love & we love to sing while we set up. Our favorite part of the day is watching you, as a new couple, walk back down the aisle after the ceremony. That feeling of elation & pure joy is why we do what we do.

DIYF: Bouquets

Aug 3

One thing I love about weddings are the flowers. Okay yes, I love pretty much everything about weddings, but today I want to talk about flowers. There are many different options for incorporating flowers into a wedding day and the types of flowers you have and how you choose to use them can play a big part in the overall feel of the event.

There are so many great tutorials out there for DIYing your own bouquet. From putting together your own fresh flowers to creating a bouquet from paper, lace or even old brooches, there are enough how-to’s out there to keep your head swimming. As a side note, I’m definitely not knocking using a floral designer. A talented floral designer can work an absolute magic out of flowers that I will never understand and will be forever jealous of. But for the crafty-loving bride, making your own bouquet can make that aspect of your florals very personal and meaningful. Not to mention the feeling of pride when everyone gushes over the gorgeousness of what you have created.

Here are a few unique bouquets that I’ve found out on the nets.

For fresh flowers, Wedding Chicks is a great place to find recipes for beautiful bouquets, like this amazing dahlia and succulent bouquet featured here.

Martha’s got a great little tutorial for making a bouquet for tissue paper flowers. You can even buy kits for her flower bouquets at local craft supply stores.

I am absolutely loving the brooch bouquets right now. Imaginale Design blog has an awesome tutorial on how she made her own brooch bouquet for her wedding. The tutorial is here and view the finished product in her lovely post here about her first look.

Our wonderfully sweet bride Ashley, made her own lace bouquet for her New Year’s Eve wedding. I love the way it turned out. Thinking we might need to get her to do a guest post with a tutorial on this one.

If you could have any bouquet you wanted, fresh or other, what would it be? Enjoy your DIY weekend!
