Birthdays are big deal in my house. Your wedding day is huge deal and such a celebration but so is the day that you first meet those amazing little creatures that made you parents. For this reason, that day calls for a celebration. My daughter Isla had her first of many birthday celebrations a couple weeks ago. I may or may not have started brainstorming for her party when she was about four months old. I come by it honestly. Her room is decorated with owls and I knew I wanted to incorporate owls but didn’t want to a complete owl theme so I decide to do a rustic, vintage woodland theme. I know, nobody does the rustic vintage thing, so original. (Give me a break, I do it well.)
As you know, we love all things handmade around here so I took this opportunity to hand make a lot of fun stuff! This also gave me the opportunity to stay up until 2am a few nights in a row the week of the party but I will save the “it’s better not to procrastinate” blog for another day.
I handmade most of the decor, including: 3 wooden cake stands, hatbox cake stand, vintage flower cake stand, name, “I am one” banner and pennant banners, doily banner, cupcake toppers, animal cupcake toppers, pinwheels, signs, ribbon banners and smores favors. I used a pallet for her photos and vintage furniture that belonged to my grandmother for the dessert table. Enough words right? I will let the photos do the rest of the talking!
So sad we had to miss it!!!
Em! Things are always better when you are there. 🙂
